Bioshock Infinitely better on PS3
Bioshock Infinite is one of the bigger and most anticipated games coming out this year, and whilst it's very much a multi format release appearing not only on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms, there's perhaps reason to go for the PS3 version if you're owning both an Xbox and PS3 console.
It appears that Sony have managed to snag one feature which could set the experience above and beyond rival platforms by being the first and perhaps only version to offer 3D support. Having played games like Uncharted 3, Killzone 3 and many others on the PS3, if this situation remains up until release, then the Xbox and PC versions are likely to very much be inferior as a result.
It has been confirmed for a while that the PS3 version would allow for Move and 3D support, but with no word from the Microsoft camp as of yet, could this be another blow for 3D TV owning gamers who only own an Xbox 360 console. Sony have been avid supporters of 3D content, whereas Microsoft have been fairly indifferent it seems. However, there are a slew of games including console exclusives such as Halo Anniversary and Gears of War 3 which support 3D - which makes it odd then that 3D support for
Bioshock Infinite hasn't been announced yet, and may not be.
There have been several games released now which have 3D support enabled only via the PS3 versions, and if
Bioshock Infinite joins their ranks, could mean that Xbox will be lagging even further behind if 3D becomes more popular. The fact that one of the year's most eagerly anticipated first person adventures - that is looking very good indeed graphically - has 3D support is a testament to the fact that 3D is still here and becoming more popular as prices of hardware tumble.
As owners of multiple consoles and fans of 3D gaming, we're inclined to sit and hope Microsoft pulls its finger out to at least match the PS3's advantage here - and if it doesn't - then like many other multiple console owning gamers, our personal copies of the game are likely to be tilted towards the PS3 version.
