Every once in a while at E3 there’s an announcement, whether it be system or software, that makes you so excited that you can’t contain yourself. I remember when the PS2 was first announced at E3 I literally stood up and said “holy sh#t.” The excitement of something so amazing at the time was too much to bear and I had to say or do something to show my excitement. We’ve all had that feeling before with sports or video games, to me its all the same, if your a fan of something and get excited its normal to show it. So these are the five announcements that would make us say holy sh#t if it happened. Keep in mind some of these may be a little far fetched, we’re just having fun here.
5. MegaMan X9 is announced
Yes a new MegaMan X would be ridiculous and would cause myself, and many others I’m sure, to go ballistic. I’m not talking about another horrible 2d 3d game like X7 or X8, I’m talking about an actual legit 16 bit MegaMan X done like MegaMan 9 and 10 were done. We’ve all been teased with promises of MegaMan Legends 3 for the 3DS only to have that dream torn away from us and we’ve all witnessed the parting of Capcom and MegaMan’s creator Keiji Inafune. A MegaMan X game that doesn’t look like crap would be a huge surprise since it looks like the series is all but dormant at this time.
4. Xbox 720/PS4 announced
Who doesn’t love a next generation announcement? If either company can announce their next system at E3 not only would they steal the entire E3 show many people would be going crazy. I think as a gamer its natural to get excited over a new piece of hardware that has the opportunity to take gaming into the next generation whether through updated visuals or new gameplay concepts. I would fully expect Twitter to explode is Microsoft even hints at Project Durango and likewise for Sony and the PS4. If a concept is shown with gameplay forget about the Wii U the 720 or PS4 would be the center of attention and would have many of us excited and begging for more information.
3. Knights of The Old Republic 3 / Battlefront 3 is announced
I think it’s safe to say if your reading this you’ve played KOTOR 1 or 2. When The Old Republic was announced as an MMORPG there were mixed reactions by fans to say the least. I think most of us wanted the next game in the KOTOR series to follow a more traditional route and be a single player experience that offers the same gameplay and story the first two games had. Bioware has a chance to make a huge splash at E3 and announce the next true KOTOR. This slot was between a new KOTOR and a new Battlefront game. If either one is a announced I think the reaction will be pretty close to one another. I put KOTOR here because of how great the previous games were and how let down fans were when the new Star Wars RPG turned out to be The Old Republic. With talks of a new Starwars game to be announced at E3 my fingers are crossed for either of these two games.
2. Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS3/Vita
This is kind of a touchy subject for some people, but it’s a no brainer that a remake of 7 would set the crowd at E3 off. This is an announcement that fans have been waiting for and begging for and I’m one of the people who would hit the roof if this happened. Even though we’ve been teased a million times about a possible remake of 7 it never gets old hearing developers hint at the possibility or hear them talk about what would be included in a remake. It seems that the creators just have fun teasing fans with the possibility and we’re all here waiting for the official announcement so we can go crazy and have a legit “holy sh#t” moment.
1. Sega Announces the Dreamcast 2
Ok this is the far fetched ann0uncement I was referring to in the beginning. The odds of this happening are very low, but if it did happen gamers would be stunned. It would be so surreal I wouldn’t know what to do when the announcement hits. I think I would just sit there for a moment digesting what just happened and then, after a few minutes, say “holy f###.” Yeah this one would merit an F bomb. The Dreamcast was such a fan favorite that it was an actual day of mourning when we watched the system brought to its knees and eventually discontinued. Just when Sega seemed to get on track with their systems and release something as innovative as the Dreamcast they ran out of money. Money is really the thing that’s keeping Sega from the home console market, but you never know. If the Dreamcast 2 was announced I think many of us would look back on this as one of the best E3 announcements ever, definitely the most surprising.
So there you have it, these are the announcements that would make us stand up and cheer at E3. What announcements would make you cheer?
